about
In 1612 the north-west of England was the scene of the country’s biggest peacetime witch trial. 20 people, mostly from the Pendle area of Lancashire, were imprisoned as witches. Much of the evidence in the trial of 1612 was given by 2 children, James & Jennet Device, aged about 9 and12. Caught in a terrifying web of charges & arrests they panicked. Their stories, designed to clear themselves, ended up in the deaths of most of their family members & of young James himself.

Hauntological ambient from the UK's Mute Branches—tense and evocative, imagining the sounds of urban myth and folkloric mystery. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 8, 2020
Surprising, delightful & intriguing. This album (& the others in this series) is meticulous & well-crafted. A must-have for those who enjoy discovering new & different terrain. monojed
